Jay-Z, whose company picks the act, selects himself for Super Bowl halftime

Jay-Z will perform at the Super Bowl LXI halftime show on Feb. 14, 2027, and his own company, Roc Nation, helps choose the act.

Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, and he effectively picked himself. He heads Roc Nation, which selects the halftime act with Apple Music each year, The Hill reports. CBS News and NPR both say he selected himself.

The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced it Monday night, according to CBS News and NPR. The game is Sunday, Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

NBC News and BBC News report it will be his first time performing at the game. The BBC says he has been involved with the show for years. The Hill calls him a 25-time Grammy winner.

The Guardian reports that Roc Nation has produced the show since a 2019 agreement, reportedly worth $5m a year. It says the deal was extended for five more years in 2024. The Guardian also says NFL commissioner Roger Goodell asked at the start of the partnership that Jay-Z one day perform himself. The Guardian piece is a opinion column.
