Police arrest 15-year-old over Tallahassee shooting that hurt 12 near Florida A&M

Tallahassee police have arrested a 15-year-old in connection with the shooting near Florida A&M University's Bragg Memorial Stadium that injured 12 people on Saturday night. Fox News reports the arrest came Sunday night.

Police said the teen faces 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder and a count of possession of a firearm by a delinquent, according to Fox News. The Guardian also reports 11 charges of attempted murder.

Police Chief Lawrence Revell said in a Monday morning statement that the arrest "marks a significant step forward" but that the department's work is far from over. He said police remain committed to getting answers for every affected family.

Six adults and six minors were injured, the Guardian reports. All but one had gunshot wounds. ABC News and Fox News both say six of the injured were children. Fox News says the youngest was 11. Police said an altercation at a homecoming party escalated into gunfire, the Guardian reports. The university said the shooting happened on Perry Street. A homecoming football game had just been played at the stadium.

On Sunday, Fox News reported that five victims had been released from the hospital and six remained hospitalized, one in critical condition. Earlier CBS News reports put the number shot at at least 11.
