Democrats lead national polls as Trump and Obama campaign before midterms

Democrats lead national polls six days before the US midterm elections, Al Jazeera reports. President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama are both campaigning in key states.

A CBS News poll published Monday found Democrats on track to take control of the House of Representatives. CBS also reports Trump is holding several rallies, including in deep-red states, as he tries to keep Republicans in control of Congress. Obama is headlining events meant to help Democrats flip control.

Obama campaigned in Ohio and Michigan over the weekend. France 24 reports he accused Trump of corruption, criticized his Iran strategy and mocked the gilded look of his White House renovations. CBS says the stops were meant to speak out against the Trump administration.

At an Ohio rally on Saturday, Obama said Americans face higher costs because of administration decisions, including what he called "an unnecessary war that nobody asked for and nobody voted for," according to France 24. The outlet also reports he blamed the White House for rising living costs, which it calls a major concern for voters.

The midterms are on 3 November, and early voting is underway, ABC News reports. France 24 describes Congress as closely divided and says polls show several tight races.
