Two ex-FBI officials charged with lying to Congress over Hunter Biden laptop probe
Two former FBI officials have been charged with lying to Congress about the Hunter Biden laptop investigation, and attorneys for one call the charges "nonsense."
Attorneys for one of two former FBI officials charged with lying to Congress called the case "nonsense charges" and criticized the Trump administration for filing them just before the midterm election, CNBC reports.
CNBC attributes the announcement of the charges to the Department of Justice. CBS News reports each of the two former agents faces one count of lying to Congress about Hunter Biden's laptop.
Fox News reports the charges concern allegedly false statements about the men's roles in investigating the laptop and Hunter Biden's foreign ties. Fox's headline says the two were arrested. CBS and CNBC do not mention arrests in the material provided.
The reports do not name the men or detail the alleged false statements. They do not say when the testimony was given.
