Vice President JD Vance said on Monday that he believes President Donald Trump would endorse him if he ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2028, The Hill reports. There has been speculation about whether Vance will announce a bid.

Vance said he thinks he would get the endorsement. He also said there is value in candidates running their own race, according to The Hill.

ABC News reports that Vance has not talked to Trump about the matter. He also warned that Trump has at times stayed out of a race and let it play out before choosing a side.
