Politico: Alaska Republicans see a hard path for Sullivan despite Trump rally

After Trump's Alaska rally for Sen. Dan Sullivan, Politico reports that strategists and voters there see a difficult re-election race for the Republican.

Posted Updated (19 d ago)

Politico reports that Alaska strategists and voters acknowledge Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan faces a difficult road to re-election. That is true despite Trump's support and outside money coming into the race, according to Politico. Its headline quotes one voice as saying, "I think Alaska's turning blue."

President Trump held a rally in Alaska on Tuesday backing Sullivan, CBS News reports. CBS put the trip at 3,400 miles. Sullivan is in a tight race against Democrat Mary Peltola, a former US House member, according to The Guardian.

The Guardian reports that Trump urged Alaskans to vote for the "real" Dan Sullivan. A second candidate on the ballot is named Dan J. Sullivan. The incumbent is Dan S. Sullivan. Fox News reports Trump told it "we are looking into" the other Sullivan, per its headline. The summary did not say what that involves.

Fox also reports Trump said Dave Bronson, a Republican running for governor, should drop out. Fox says Bronson lost the GOP primary to Trump's preferred candidate.

The Guardian says the Senate race is one of the most closely contested of the midterms. Democrats are trying to win back control of Congress.
