Bryan Cranston mourns RJ Mitte, "Breaking Bad" son, dead at 34

Bryan Cranston on Monday mourned RJ Mitte, his "Breaking Bad" co-star, who has died at 34. NBC News reports Cranston called him "my sweet son." Mitte played Cranston's on-screen son, Walter White Jr., also called Flynn.

CBS News says tributes are coming in and describes the death as sudden. The Hill reports the Brownsville Police Department confirmed the death on Monday. Mitte's representatives also announced it that day, according to NBC News, The Guardian and France 24.

The Guardian quotes the representatives' statement to Variety and Deadline, which calls him a "beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate." ABC News also describes him as a philanthropist and disability rights advocate.

Mitte had cerebral palsy, according to several outlets. The New York Times says he brought his own experience of the disability to the role. Deutsche Welle reports he called that experience an asset for the part. France 24 and the BBC say he pushed for inclusion and better representation of disability on screen.

The Times calls the show Emmy-winning. NBC News describes it as an AMC series.
