Omar's sister skips event after reported subpoena in immigration probe

Sahra Noor, Rep. Ilhan Omar's sister, skipped a scheduled book tour event in Rochester, Minnesota, Fox News reports. Fox says she was reportedly subpoenaed in the investigation into Omar's immigration paperwork. No other outlet in these reports confirms the subpoena.

Federal agents searched Omar's Washington, D.C., home on Monday morning. CBS News, citing sources, says the yearslong probe involves possible false statements and immigration fraud. Those sources say it centers on paperwork Omar's late father completed when she was a child. CBS sources also say Attorney General Blanche was personally aware of the search.

Fox reports that the probe has produced new subpoenas, including to multiple family members. Fox also reports that Omar's husband, Tim Mynett, was seen at the couple's home. It says he reacted to rumors that Omar had fled the U.S. Earlier, Fox quoted him saying he has "no concerns." Fox alone reports that agents seized Omar's cell phone.

Fox says Somali community members in Minneapolis feel personally attacked by the search.

Omar, a Minnesota Democrat and U.S. citizen, called the search "an attempt to target political enemies," CBS reports. France 24 says she accused the Trump administration of using government institutions against opponents and called the raid political intimidation. Fox says the search has set off a partisan argument over immigration fraud and the use of government power.
