Trump says he offered press secretary job to UFC chief Dana White
Trump said in a Saturday social media post that he offered the White House press secretary job to UFC CEO Dana White, a post that has been largely vacant since Karoline Leavitt stepped aside in August.
President Trump said on Saturday that he offered the White House press secretary job to Dana White, president and CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. CBS News reports the role has been largely vacant since Karoline Leavitt stepped aside in August. The New York Times calls the job vacant.
Trump made the offer in a Truth Social post, according to The Hill and Fox News. They report he asked White to bring "assistants" and named several UFC fighters. The Times says Trump told White to bring fighters along as aides. The BBC's headline quotes the president: "Dana, please take the job!"
The Guardian reports Trump called White "a violent Fighter and Warrior." It says Trump wrote that White and some fighters would "defend us from the Lunatic Left." The Guardian adds that White staged a cage-fighting event at the White House in June for Trump's 80th birthday.
PBS NewsHour says the post came as the White House is in a period of major transition. It says Trump's party is dealing with deep losses in Tuesday's midterm elections.
The BBC says it asked the White House and TKO Holdings, the UFC's parent company, for comment. No response has been reported.
