Schumer says Democrats would block a "right-winger" Supreme Court nominee from Trump
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer says that if Democrats take control of the Senate, they will stop Trump from putting a "right-winger" on the Supreme Court.
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer of New York says Democrats would block any "right-winger" President Trump tries to put on the Supreme Court once they control the Senate.
The Hill reports the stance could add to pressure on Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, both conservatives, to step down this year. The reports do not say either justice has signaled plans to retire.
PBS NewsHour reports Schumer also described his party's broader agenda. He said it will center on lowering prices. It will also include five issues Democrats have pushed while in the minority: healthcare, housing, Trump's tariffs, childcare and energy bills.
