Russell Brand under investigation over two more rape complaints, police say
Police say Russell Brand is being investigated over two further rape allegations, and a detective has urged other possible victims to come forward after guilty verdicts.
Russell Brand is under investigation over two new rape complaints, police said. The BBC and The Guardian both report this.
Det Supt Andy Furphy said he hoped other potential victims would draw "courage" and "confidence" from the guilty verdicts. He leads the Metropolitan Police investigation strategically. The Guardian quotes him saying the work is not done.
The Guardian reports that Furphy called Brand, 51, "a predator" and said his behaviour escalated as his fame grew. The Guardian also reports that Brand faces a civil claim in the UK.
Furphy urged anyone else who may have been a victim to contact police.
