The top Democrats in the House and Senate praised their party's performance in the US midterm elections, Al Jazeera reports. The outlet described the result as a resounding victory.
The Guardian reports that senior Democratic leaders said the party's new representatives in Washington will be "united." They said the focus will be on lowering costs for Americans and ending corruption under President Donald Trump.
Progressive Democrats took a different emphasis, according to The Guardian. They said the wins are a repudiation of the party's own establishment as well as of Trump's presidency. They called on the party to take radical action.
