ABC projects Democrats will win the Senate as well as the House

ABC News now projects Democrats will win both chambers of Congress, while NBC, CBS and ABC all project they take the House.

Posted Updated (32 min ago)

ABC News projects that Democrats will win control of the Senate as well as the House of Representatives. It is the first outlet in these reports to make a Senate projection.

On the House, NBC News, CBS News and ABC News all project a Democratic majority. NBC says Democrats will pick up the three seats they need. CBS says the result will limit President Trump's ability to advance his agenda. NBC also says the majority gives Democrats the power to investigate Trump and push legislation to check his policies.

House Speaker Mike Johnson made remarks after ABC's House projection. The report on his remarks did not say what he said.

These are projections, not final results. None of the reports gave seat counts or named the races that decided the outcome.
